MX-445 has been developed as an alternative to powdered Aluminum Isopropoxide (AIP). AIP is a widely used chemical that enjoys use as a catalyst (Meerwein-Pondorf reactions) and as a material used in the production of dielectric ceramics.
MX-445 is a liquid mixture of aluminum alkoxides in a technical white oil that offers several benefits over powdered AIP:
- Liquid – ease of handling
- No dust explosion risk
- Non-hazardous Classification – the mixture is not considered flammable per shipping regulations
- Typical flash point of 170 °F versus 56 °F for powdered AIP
- Consistency – the overall aluminum content is tightly controlled resulting in a more consistent product.
